  • 1 cup water (240 mL)
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil (120 mL)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup milk (240 mL)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the vanilla cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until smooth.
  3. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan.
  4. In another bowl, blend cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until creamy. Spread this mixture over the first layer of batter.
  5. Spoon the remaining batter over the cream cheese layer.
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together cocoa powder and milk; drizzle this over the top of the batter.
  7. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
  8. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool completely before slicing and serving.
