  • 1 pound ground beef (95% lean)
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 8 hot dog buns
  • 1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, panko breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, and salt. Mix until combined and form into meatballs about 1 inch in diameter.
  2. Place meatballs on a lined baking sheet and bake for about 20 minutes or until cooked through.
  3. While baking, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and add marinara sauce. Simmer until warmed through.
  4. Once meatballs are done baking, add them to the skillet with marinara sauce and gently stir to coat.
  5. Fill hot dog buns with meatballs and top generously with mozzarella cheese. Serve immediately.
