  • 4 dried Chinese chili peppers
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable broth
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons light soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon dark soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons peanut oil
  • 2 green onions, sliced

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce by mixing all sauce ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Create the slurry by combining cornstarch and water in another bowl.
  3. Steam broccoli in a skillet with water for 1 minute until al dente; set aside.
  4. Sear mushrooms in peanut oil until browned.
  5. Cook garlic, ginger, chili peppers, and green onions with mushrooms.
  6. Combine steamed broccoli back into the pan; add the sauce and cook briefly.
  7. Stir in the cornstarch slurry until thickened; serve hot.
