  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (gluten-free optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a small bowl, mix the flaxseed with 5 tablespoons of water and set aside to thicken (or skip if using applesauce).
  3. In a medium pot over medium-low heat, combine sugar and 1/2 cup of water, whisking until dissolved.
  4. In a large bowl, mix all dry ingredients (cocoa powder, flour, salt) together.
  5. Once the sugar mixture is ready, combine it with the dry ingredients along with oil and vanilla. Add your thickened flax or applesauce and mix gently until combined.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips.
  7. Pour batter into a lined 8×8 baking pan and bake for 35-42 minutes. Check for doneness with a toothpick.
